Grown Up Handbag

I’m trying to grow up my wardrobe a little bit. It was suggested to me by a friend (can’t wait to share more information about this!!!) that a handbag can “grow up” any outfit. Instantly.
So I’ve been on the hunt.
Right now, I’ve narrowed it down to this little guy. (And the matching shoes, just because.)
Oh, and this one is kind of calling my name. The Shopbop Friends & Family sale is going on right now… so it’s 20% off! Use “WeAreFamily13” at checkout.
What do you think?

xoxo

PS Thank you for all the sweet emails and tweets in regards to this morning’s post. Hearing from everyone and having these tough conversations is inspiring and uplifting. I’ve been sick to my stomach all day. But I think attempting to “get back to normal” and not living in fear is important. I’m still thinking about everything that has happened and everyone affected… and it’s hard.
Say Hello

The black for sure! I'm graduating next month and have been on the lookout for one that my parents can give me as a graduation gift!

I JUST bought a nice bag last weekend (at the Marshall's right down Boylston from the marathon finish line, no less…thanks for your amazing post this morning, Carly) and it's so funny, I've been calling it my "grown up bag" too. I scored a luggage colored satchel from Michael Kors and I'm in love. Go with a day to night, all season color and you'll be so glad you did!

I have been swooning over the lasercut wallet the last few weeks…if only I was made of money! Got any cheaper alternatives on your radar?

Um, I'm slightly obsessed with Tory Burch. My two "grown-up" bags are the Stacked T Satchel in black and the Robinson Double Zip in sand. I think every young woman should have a black and sand colored bag along with a few Le Pliage bags in her arsenal.

I love the laser cut design on the Kelsey Middy it lends texture to an otherwise basic bag like the Robinson Middy. It seems designers are going all out with stripes this season. I fell in love with a striped MK bag. Stripes are classic…it definitely justifies the price tag, RIGHT?!?!

Great choices. I totally agree– a handbag can completely change the look and feel of an ensemble. As soon as I graduated from JMU, I ditched my Vineyard Vines totes and monogrammed longchamps and moved on to a plain, simple, all leather Kate Spade. I have received so many compliments and love it. It is the perfect 20-something working-gal bag. I also just recently purchased the Louis Vuitton speedy which is a classic and should last me years.

Tory Burch is a great choice, too– she does classic well and always adds a fun, updated spin!

I'm totally having this struggle right now! I went with a navy Kate Spade. Both your choices are fab, but i say the first one is the best bet. The dark color would go with tons of things and stay looking great for a long time!

Absolutely a handbag can grow up your wardrobe. I have the problem of being mistaken for someone much younger at 24. It's nice to look the part of your age! I like the second handbag better personally, only because i am not much of a black accessories person. They are both cute though! Personally, I carry a Longchamp on the day to day, a Marc by Marc Jacobs shoulder bag for the weekends and a Chanel for special occasions!
