I’m totally using this long weekend as a weekend of “catching up.” I’m catching up on emails, blog posts, work for Levo, sleep, friends, my dating life (big LOL here), reading, and… Netflix.
I purposefully left my weekend 95% unscheduled so that I could just take my time and feel completely open. I can’t remember the last time I had an entire day without something planned. It feels amazing and I sort of wish I could do this once a week consistently. (I try… but then things pop up all the time!!)
I had every intention of catching up on everything I mentioned, except for the Netflix part. I don’t have cable, so the only television I watch is online. (Read: Dance Moms the day after it airs, obviously, and the occasional movie on Netflix.)
I really, really try to not get hooked on shows. I tend to binge watch when I find a show I like. It’s both annoying and amazing. I’ll find myself watching an episode while I work through my inbox. Or while I straighten my hair. Or when I have forty minutes to spare. Netflix really makes it easy to binge on a show since all the episodes are just right there.
One summer I would go to Blockbuster (omg, Blockbuster) and rent Desperate Housewives DVDs. Then another summer I got hooked on Grey’s Anatomy and went through like every episode until I was caught up to real time. Earlier this year, I watched all of Dawson’s Creek… ugh. So perfect.
I was looking for a new documentary to watch on Netflix. (I love documentaries.) But somehow I ended up clicking on Hawthorne and the next thing I knew… I was hooked.
One of my best friends wants to be a nurse. She was the one who really took care of me when I was completely knocked out on the floor of a gas station (true story). I have so much respect for the nursing community in general.
Anyway, I love this show now. I can’t wait to keep watching!
With everyone talking about Arrested Development, a show I never got into, I’m so interested to hear what other series are great! What are you into?

xoxo

Heard about Hawthorne, but haven't had the chance to start watching! Dawson's Creek though! Funny story, I just saw Joshua Jackson and his girlfriend Diana Kruger at dinner 2 nights ago! They were seated right next to me! Gorgeous couple!

I love Nashville, Grimm, The Good Wife and so many others. I'm told I need to watch Portlandia to learn about the Portland culture so that's on my list now.

My new favorites, which I discovered because of Netflix: Greek and Drop Dead Diva! Both sound cheesy, when you read the descriptions, but they're actually awesome.

Also, there's a great Canadian show called Being Erica – it's fantastic! I'm just not sure if it's available on American netflix.

I spent my entire Chirstmas vacation watching How I Met Your Mother on Netflix. After the first episode I was hooked. I'm not usually one for prime-time American comedies, but this show is so wonderfully written I couldn't resist.

MADMEN!!! it's so good! I've heard of it before but didn't want to start because I just knew I would become addicted. But one day in my writing class we watched part of an episode, and I finally caved, and have been loving that show!!! check it out.
