ELLE | Horoscopes

I’m not really sure how I feel about horoscopes, but I read them. All the time. If I come across a link online, I click on it. If I’m reading a magazine, I read it. I search for consistencies with my life, but almost always fail to see any real connection to my reality.
Except for the horoscopes on ELLE.com.
There was a flurry of text messages and gchats one night with some girls I work with. You would have thought that there was some sort of crisis happening. But nope. Just an urgency to read every single line of our horoscopes. And then basically send each other every part that related to our life. Which was every single line.
I was dying reading the horoscopes of my friends because they were so spot on. From their preferred means of communication to how they deal with confrontation to the things they were facing in their life. It was too funny.
And then I read mine and seriously went into it thinking that every tiny aspect would be super generic and just not me. Instead, it was spot on.
While I would like to label myself as very level-headed and rational, I’m actually extremely superstitious. (I would prefer that I wasn’t… but I totally am.) For example, I can never take off my little gold cuff because then I’m convinced I will sleep through my alarm. Yep. Weird.
Anyway.
How cute are these illustrations of the different signs by Laura Rees?
Even if they’re just fluff, I still think they’re fun to read and analyze! They’re written by The Astro Twins. I think they’re awesome. I really love reading the monthly horoscope.
In case you’re wondering, I’m a Virgo (September 1!).

Hey baby! What’s your sign?
Do you read your horoscope?

xoxo

Horoscopes are so fun (definitely more silly than serious)! These look so awesome, I can't wait to check out Aries!

You should definitely read Susan Miller from astrologyzone she is ALWAYS right! And her horoscopes have like 20 pages / per month! It's almost scarry! And I think she's the one that rights for elle, btw.

Hey, I'm a Virgo, too! I was surprised that my horoscope was as close as it was. I am typically not an extremely organized or neurotic, but I can see myself in most of the points they brought up. Especially about getting careful to not get "trapped in a codependent dynamic" — I was just thinking to myself about how comfortable I get with my boyfriend and tend to forget my girl friends. Reading that in this horoscope was a real eye opener!

Thanks for sharing!

Can I get these on my phone every morning! I just read mine for today (Scorpio) and it is totally spot on. I am getting totally frustrated on my current job hunt because I KNOW I am qualified for all of the positions I am applying for but I just can't seem to get my foot in the door. Thanks for this today Carly, I really needed that push!

Wow, a lot of that was very accurate about me! I am a Capricorn. I don't keep up with horoscopes and I don't necessarily believe them, but I do read them if I come across them in my Seventeen magazine and I like to see how accurate they actually are.

VIRGOS UNITE, lol! I always love the illustration for Virgo, makes me feel so cute & girly. I never really believed horoscopes and honestly think that if one horoscope were exchanged for another, it would still apply. I do enjoy getting to read a glimpse of it, even though I forget it afterwards.
Your Friend, Jess

I'm a Gemini (surprise, surprise). I was my middle school's resident astrologer back in the day. Classmates would pay me for horoscopes and the illustrations I drew to go along with them. That's when I fell in love with design. I read my horoscope every once in a while. In Bazaar, most recently. I really liked the motivational quote that went along with it: "To achieve something great, you need a plan and not quite enough time."

I remember reading my horoscopes in middle school because the "cool girls" were reading them. I'm a Pisces, and I always liked my sign because it was symmetrical.

I'm sorry to report that today's horoscope has nothing to do with my life 🙁

I had suspicions that you were a Virgo! Lol, I am a Virgo as well.. Elle is always super spot on with their horoscopes. I've been reading their horoscopes for a couple of years now and none have been inaccurate. Spot on! I'm a little skeptical on horoscopes but this one caught my attention so I read it. Looks like we'll be having a relaxing month Taureans. 😉
