New Year’s Eve Outfits

Do you guys have fun New Year’s Eve plans this year? We were supposed to go on a trip, but we couldn’t make it work unfortunately (and, frankly, traveling internationally right now freaks me out).

I never really end up doing anything “big” on NYE as it’s not really my kind of night. It used to be my favorite night for babysitting (best night of the year!!!), but now I love just going out for a nice dinner and then watching the ball drop on TV. Typing that out sounds really boring, haha, and in a way it is, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Waking up on January 1 feeling amazing and refreshed is exactly how I want to start a new year.

If you are going out, there are some super adorable sequin-y things right now. I rounded up a lot of tops. When in doubt, I don’t think you can go wrong with a simple little black dress, but I like the idea of dressing up a top with great pants, especially if you’re somewhere colder! And the tops. UGH! They’re cute. I wouldn’t consider myself a sequin type of girl, but man do I want this top!

I agree with you about NYE. Years ago I always made the best babysitting money that night! What I do like now is on New Year’s Day watching the Vienna New Year’s concert (they run it on PBS.) In terms of being scared of international travel…there have been incidents even in the U.S. The lastest scary incident abroad– the Berlin Christmas market attack last night– makes me sad–but actually I plan to go to my favorite Christams market where I live (I live in German-speaking Europe) because I don’t plan on giving any terorist the satisfaction of keeping me from things I enjoy.

I have the same feelings about NYE. I like to keep things simple. We usually either go somewhere nice for dinner or make a special meal and then stay in. Growing up we would spend it together as a family and my mom would have fun activities and games planned for us and she still does the same for my little brothers. Have fun celebrating!

Thank you so much for rounding these up! Loft use to sell a black jumpsuit like the one you posted but I was too late to buy it before all sizes sold out, so I’m excited to try the Old Navy one! I think it can be a great piece that transitions well throughout the seasons.

I bought an impromptu sequin bomber jacket that I think will pair perfectly with the jumpsuit for a festive NYE look.

Thanks Carly!

XO,
Taylor

My family is definitely the same, we put out a spread of appetizers and watch the ball drop… we’re boring too! Hoping to keep that tradition up!

My husband is the Music Director for an entertainment company. His company often hires me as the day-of coordinator for their bands, which means we typically end up working together on NYE. It’s kind of the best of both worlds – we get to dress up and be at fancy parties while still getting paid!
