Everyday Jewelry

Remember the days of layering tons of bracelets, wearing heavy statement necklaces, and stacking chunky watches? I loved it as much as the next girl, but now I’m all about simple, nice pieces.

I think that understated jewelry actually says a lot, and right now I’m more interested in investing in nice things I can wear forever than stocking up on a ton of cheap things.

On occasion, I will wear a fun statement (like fun earrings) with a basic outfit, but for the most part, I’m keeping things super simple with studs, a necklace, a bracelet, a watch, and maybe a ring.

I didn’t include it in my yearly goals, but I am seriously trying to “edit” my entire wardrobe, and I think the jewelry I’ve been wearing is a huge part of it. I’m simplifying everything and trying only to keep (and purchase) classic pieces that I truly love and can wear for various purposes.

I’ve rounded up some great, classic pieces:

Like the idea! 🙂 I have only a few pieces of jewellery, which I received as gifts. Everytime I wear something, it reminds me of the giver and the occasion. It’s like having my family with me all the time.

I can definitely see the appeal of dainty jewels, but I often feel they’re too delicate for me. I have been wearing layers of bracelets for years and years – certainly before “arm candy” became a thing. Layered jewels is a classic look in my books.

I love the look of understated and simple jewelry. I wear the same pieces almost everyday (pearl earrings, my wedding ring, and a Tiffany diamond pendent necklace). I love this clean and simple look.
I would love to hear more about “editing” your closet. I think that is a really great goal, especially for a blogger!

I have a pair of those Kate Spade bow studs and I wear them nearly every day. Understated jewelry is really great because it gives you a lot of flexibility to layer without it getting overwhelming – I have two simple necklaces that I wear together all the time, and since they’re both so simple, they complement each other really nicely. Love this list you’ve put together!

I have been on the search for a simple classic watch FOREVER it feels like! I love that Kate spade one but I’m just so indecisive, but I was thinking, maybe a Daniel Wellington. I want one I can wear with any classic everyday kind of outfit. What watch do you wear?

I have a vintage cartier that I absolutely cherish! But I would definitely trust your gut and maybe try a few on!

All of these jewelry pieces are so pretty. Right now I am so into small and petite jewelry and I am obsessed with dogeared necklaces. I love the small diamond solitaire pendant necklace, it is gorgeous!

Hi Carly! I really enjoy your blog ! I’m glad you are interested in buying nicer jewelry.
I am a fine jewelry fanatic! Please look at my blog http://www.wannabeliz.com . I feel that I give good advice on purchasing fine jewelry. I don’t want others to make the same costly mistakes I made. Earring weight has a lot to do with wearability.

I knew those first earrings had to be J. Crew! I wore a very similar pair for my wedding several years ago! Love the look of so many of these. I feel like many of them will maintain their classic look for years and one day be passed along to future children.

I’m right there with you. I just donated probably 75% of my jewelry collection. I still have a few statement pieces, but on most days I just gravitate toward my silver or gold monogram necklace. I haven’t even put in earrings in weeks! Simple is better for so many reasons. Fewer, well curated pieces make it easier to get dressed, for one thing!
