Draper James Gingham

This dress isn’t exactly a “blend in with the locals” kind of dress. But I loved wearing it while touring around Paris nonetheless. When I saw it online, I bought it and said a little retail prayer that it would be as cute in person as I hoped it would. Guys, it’s even better. A huge gingham check is difficult to pull off without looking like a picnic blanket. The details on this one work though– the neckline, the bow, the pockets. How is a gingham-obsessed girl supposed to say no to this?

I particularly love the neckline and the almost fit-and-flare skirt on it. I packed it as a backup option for the trip. I know I keep on mentioning it, but it was insanely hot, and Sunday was definitely the hottest of the days. I somehow don’t look like a sweaty mess in the photos, but I certainly felt like a sweaty mess.

After a little touring outside, we made our way to the museums where we spent the bulk of the day.

Apollo Gallery

The Apollo Gallery in the Louvre was hands down my favorite there. No words to describe how utterly exquisite the space is. So many details! You could spend a full day taking it all in.

Louvre Museum D'Orsay Museum

I had to recreate Degas’ Little Dancer. I’m always drawn to her wherever I see one.

After proper museum hopping… it was time for a picnic by the Eiffel Tower. I almost canceled it because I thought it would be miserably hot. We found a shady spot, and it was so perfect.

How do you find the quality of Draper James dresses? They look so pretty but I’m just wondering if the price is justifiable!

I love love love the picturesque photography, especially the one with you and the baguette, haha! As a student considering where to study abroad, perhaps I will pick Paris.

I love that a Longchamp Le Pliage made an appearance in this post. I have told you this before, but I found your blog years ago by Googling “Longchamp bags”. I have been using these bags ever since reading one of your posts about them. I am glad you still use them too! They are so functional and timeless. I own a handful now 😂.

Dear Carly,

This post is so wonderful. It’s always pleasant for the french woman I am to discover an other culture. We love the united states and I hzve to say I really like your universe.
It’s fun to see your pictures of Paris and the place you visited. I definitely have a crush on your gingham dress…I want the same.
I come to visit Florida and Bahams in August and I already plan to make shopping and stop in Anthropologie, J Crew and now Nordstrom (a brand not very known in France)
Keep continue to make me dream of America and have a beautiful 4th of july.
Best wishes from Marseilles
Leslie
