Sailing on the Fourth

I ALWAYS know that the summer is basically over after the Fourth of July. And, yet, it never ceases to amaze me just how fast the days start to go. I’m trying to savor every minute of summer. These photos are all from the Fourth of July this year. We fit so much into the one day; it felt like we celebrated the Fourth for at least two (maybe three) days. I’d still take a re-do to relive it all though… going through photos will have to do.

There are a few more photos than usual in the post, so I’ll keep the text to a minimum. We started the day with copious cups of coffee. We lived in our Lake Pajamas that week. So comfortable for porch lounging, sleeping in, and cozy working.

Peter Beaton

While we waited for our sailboat, the girls and I decided to do a little shopping. I don’t think Julia or I could resist a pretty straw hat if we tried. I added one more to my Peter Beaton collection, and Julia started hers!

Nantucket Wharf

I’m pretty sure that the Fourth of July was the hottest day we were on Nantucket, so the sailboat ride was extra perfect. It’s so much cooler on the water (not to mention the breeze)– we were appreciative of the relief!

Nantucket Charter Sailboat

I think this was my fourth sail with Endeavour Sailing. I highly recommend booking a private charter for an afternoon. It’s the best.

Paper Crown Romper

Had to include the back of my romper! I’m not much of a romper girl, but this one is an exception. It looks more like a dress!

Juice Bar Ice Cream Cones

There was no line at the Juice Bar after the sail, so we all ordered a scoop or two. Even the non-ice cream lovers were obsessed. (Coffee is my current favorite flavor there right now… I can’t get enough.)

Scallop Dress

We got lucky with dinner reservations at The Galley. It’s the best spot for sunset drinks and dinner.

Fourth of July Nantucket

The best time with Chassity, Gray, and Julia! The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays, and it’s even better when you get to spend it with friends in a gorgeous place.

hello Carly,

thak you to share your national celebration with us. Nantucket is amazing. Sailing, strolling in the Streets looking at the houses recovered of flowers…I am so jealous. The place seems to be so peaceful.
PS: what a gorgious dress you have.
Fantastic post and sorry for my mistakes.
Leslie, just a french fan 😉

It looked like you guys had so much fun! All of your island hopping inspires me to get out and explore all the islands in the Puget Sound in Washington. So many cute towns!

Hi Carly, I hope you will share a bit of how you went about to booking a house on Nantucket (from this and from your most recent trip) please. We’ve always stayed at the bed and breakfast places because I feel like I’d never be able to afford a home, even for a couple of days. Hopefully you will share some useful tips. Thank you!

Your photos are so beautiful! They’re so crisp and clear! If you don’t mind me asking what type of camera do you use?
