7 Apple Recipes for Fall

I already saw my first apple picking post of the year on Facebook this weekend. I was a little jealous, to be honest, because apple season is my FAVE. I love picking apples just as much as I love eating apples too.

It’s that time of year again, apples are in season! My roommate came back from up north with a whole bag of freshly picked apples, and these apples are definitely the best apples I’ve had all year. It got me thinking of all the delicious ways you can use apples in your cooking—from sweet to savory! If you’re going to go apple picking (and I mean, who isn’t? Pretty sure apple picking is on everyone’s fall bucket list), then bookmark these recipes to make with your bounty of fresh apples!

1. Baked Apple French Toast

This is one of my all-time favorite brunch recipes! This French toast feeds a crowd and the topping is made with apples, walnuts and brown sugar. If there is one recipe you’re going to make this fall, make it this one.

2. Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

This recipe was inspired by those little instant oatmeal packets you can buy at grocery stores, but instead, I wanted to use fresh apples for the perfect warming breakfast.

3. Lighter Tuna Salad

I love apples in tuna salad! They add the perfect amount of crunch and really lighten up tuna salad, which can sometimes be a little too heavy with tons of mayo.

4. Gluten Free Apple Crisp

My mom used to make a gluten free apple crisp pretty much every weekend—her and my sister are both gluten free so she created this incredible recipe for apple crisp with a crunchy topping made from ground almonds.

5. Caramel Apple Cheesecake

This recipe is a little bit of a different spin on apples because it uses apple juice to make a delicious cheesecake and an apple caramel sauce.

6. Caramelized Onion and Apple Grilled Cheese

Like in tuna salad I love adding apples to grilled cheese to add crunch and lighten up the flavors. Plus it adds a bit of acidity which is totally needed in a grilled cheese.

7. Whole Wheat Applesauce Muffins

Applesauce is one of my favorite snacks (I know, I’m boring) and I love to use it in baking. This is a lighter option for dessert or a snack.

Hey Carly,
Oh thanks for sharing these recipes!! Apples are such an allrounder and I’ll never forget how my grandparents always say: An apple a day keeps the doctor away.
The apple cheesecake sounds so soo yummy!

all of this sounds yummy! The apple pie really reminds me of my aunt’s pie. I’ve never thought about apple french toast before. I definitely will try this.

I love how apples really work in absolutely any meal of the day, from breakfast to dinner to dessert. I’m looking forward to traveling on what we call the Fruit Loop here in Oregon to go apple picking this Fall!
