Art of Being Female

I’m still good friends with my first blog manager. Actually, I’m kind of obsessed with her. She’s the epitome of chic and has the cutest kids in the entire world. (This is her daughter’s first birthday party. #goals.)

Even though we don’t work together anymore, Alatheia played a crucial part in my blogging career. She was the first person I trusted to help me run my business. There’s something so vulnerable and scary about handing over a chunk of your business, my baby!, to someone else. I had held out for so long, but she was the perfect person for me to end up working with. Because of her, I learned how to let go of 100% control (if you know me, you know this is not an easy feat!) and to allow people to help.

We took these photos over a month ago when she was in the city for fashion week, and I did a little guest post interview on her new website. I wanted to share the outfit because, with the weather we’re having, it’s still totally warm enough for skirts! And I definitely wanted to share the post with you guys after it got great feedback on social.

Unlike other jobs, I think blogging still feels pretty mysterious. Sometimes people ask me questions that would be rude for any other industry (like people point-blank asking how much money you make) and I know it stems from curiosity more than anything else. I don’t think it has to be that mysterious though… it really is like any other job with ups, downs, strategies, victories, and challenges.

I try to be as open as possible as blogging, without turning into a blogger about blogging that is. My hope is that you might find the guest post that I did interesting, whether you want to start your own blog, take your blog to the next level, or you just want to know more about behind the scenes!

This couldn’t have come at a better time! I’m just working on my 101 in 1001 list right now (thx Mackenzie!) and reading your guest post has added some extra inspo to my list! Are you ever going to do a 101 in 1001? I’m sure we would all love to read it!

Best,
Isabella

I loved your guest post! It gave an interesting perspective to the blogging world! I just wanted to stop by and say thank you.. for being so open and genuine. After reading this post, I realized that you were the first blogger that I started following in college. Now I follow several others on social media. I love seeing all of the pretty pictures and the outfit inspiration. However, I realized that your blog is the only one that I ever take the time to read. There is so much more to it than just pretty pictures. Thanks for being so open and so awesome!

I loved this interview! I think online it can sometimes be hard to be honest without coming off in a bad way, but you always handle honesty with such grace.
