On My Radar

The leaves are finally starting to “pop.” I was skeptical if it would ever happen considering how it was looking for a while. The leaves are definitely not what they have been in the past (from what I’ve read it’s because of our dry, hot summer) but I’ll take what I can get. Nothing a little filter can’t fix, ha. [Note, the photo below has a filter on it.] This tweet sums up how I’ve been feeling about the leaves.

Foliage

Here’s what has been on my radar for the week:

ONE // History Behind Those Orange Scissors

I don’t think I’ve given much thought to scissors. But we all know about those scissors with orange handles right? Everyone has a pair! This article talks about the history behind that iconic design– including why they’re orange. Pretty interesting.

TWO // Velvet Sneakers

I’m doing a sponsored Instagram with Old Navy this weekend, and I got to pick out a few items. I loved the look of these velvet sneakers, but little did I know that they would end up being the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever put on my feet. Ever. You know those slippers they always have in department stores around the holidays with memory foam inserts? That is exactly what these feel like. And they’re under $25Highly recommend.

THREE // Wizard of Oz Homecoming Assembly

Did your high school put on big homecoming assemblies? Ours were pretty big deals, and the dance team would always do a little number. (Every year it seemed to get a little more provocative…) This Arizona High School’s dance team put on an incredible performance inspired by the Wizard of Oz. The music selection is just as great as the choreography. My sister and I are obsessed with the whole thing.

FOUR // Travel the World with the NY Times

I saw this job description floating around social quite a bit this week and, frankly, it seems like a total dream job! The NY Times is hiring someone to travel around the world. 52 weeks, 52 locations. I can’t wait to see who they select and what they end up documenting.

FIVE // Bernese Mountain Dog Pups

Get ready for the cutest video of all time! Bernese mountain dog puppies frolicking through the snow… what could be better?

Love the velvet sneakers! I see that they don’t have half sizes, so do you recommend sizing up or down?

I can’t get enough of the leaves changing colors! I’m sad, though, because I’m pretty sure we’re nearing the end of it up here in Boston. Soon it’ll just be trees and bare branches!

Had the pleasure of growing up with Berners and they are the BEST! Tons of hair but 80 lb wannabe lapdogs that will love you forever. Thanks for sharing the cuteness!
