iPhone Snaps

Ugh. It’s been a hectic few weeks. I don’t feel like I’ve been able to give my blog (aka you guys!) enough of my attention lately. There’s been a lot going on in the backend business end of the blog– big partnerships, tax season, setting up in NJ, etc not to mention the energy it takes to move to a new state. I don’t remember my move from NYC to Connecticut as being as hard as this one has been. Whew!

I have a pretty long list of posts that I want and need to write, but I want to make sure that I’m putting the most effort possible into each one. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the kind of time those posts deserve and I want to do them justice! In the meantime, I thought it’d be the perfect time to do a little iPhone photo post with some things that may not have made the blog– or what I wanted to share more of. Okay, ready??? In no particular order:

Having a backyard for the dogs makes my life so much easier and definitely makes my dogs’ lives better. They’re loving having a space to run around in (especially when there’s snow) and I’m loving being able to open the door in the morning to let them out– without changing out of my pajamas. The yard needs a lot of work, it’s basically a dirt lot right now, but kind of excited to see what it looks like once spring rolls around.

Aaptiv

Leaving my gym was the second hardest part about leaving Connecticut. (Losing the dog’s groomer/boarder tops my list!) I just signed up for a new gym membership in Hoboken after doing a little shopping around. I was taking classes at local studios, but I really missed a gym. So! I’m all signed up and I even found a personal trainer to work with a couple of times a week. It’s a big investment, but one I am ready and willing to make right now to get some personalized training.

To fully utilize everything my gym has to offer, I also have been supplementing classes with the app Aaptiv. The app is great if you want a personal trainer without the price. They have so many different sessions from elliptical to yoga to stretching with something for every level. I have been pretty into the treadmill training sessions because they are SO HARD but make running, especially treadmill running, a lot more entertaining. It’s like having a little trainer in your year coaching you along and they even coordinate the songs perfectly for whatever workout you end up doing.

Notebook

This is technically a picture I took of a delicious breakfast sandwich my boyfriend made me one day… but I’m including it here because I currently can’t find my little notebook. It’s somewhere in my apartment, I just have no idea where at the moment. Not going to lie, it’s driving me crazy.

Wellness Weekend

One fun thing about being in Hoboken is that we’ve implemented a “weekend wellness series.” It’s usually a healthy meal and some kind of wellness activity like foam rolling, breathing exercises, yoga, or the like. It’s very relaxing and a nice way to spend a Sunday morning.

Grey Hair

It’s no secret that I have some grey hair. I’ve been going grey since college and every six months or so I feel like I go up another level. Right now the streak is serrrrrriously coming in. It’s only in this one part of my hairline, so I can cover it by parting my hair a little deeper. If I do a middle part though, it’s a full blown streak. I don’t intend on dying it anytime soon, if ever. It doesn’t bother me at all and I actually like how it looks. But I’m always so surprised how much it intrigues (or bothers, haha) other people!

Vineyard Vines Ian Murray

I’m missing my friends! We had THE BEST time in the Bahamas together.

Smoked Salmon Salad

Just a little salad my boyfriend whipped up. Absolutely delicious. I have been on the biggest arugula kick lately. I like an arugula salad on the side of just about anything, but this was a full meal complete with smoked salmon, radishes, tomatoes, and goat cheese. Yum.

Love Simon

I went and saw Love Simon earlier this week with my friend. OMG it was perfect. Such an incredible movie, with a great message, and a fantastic cast. I laughed (a lot) and cried (a lot). The one thing I kept thinking over and over again was how important this movie is and how the story could have easily fallen flat on the screen; instead, they knocked it out of the park and did the story justice. Such an amazing opportunity to impact young lives and it really translated perfectly on the screen.

Zyrtec

I’m partnering with Zyrtec this spring to share some of my allergy experiences. (I never had allergies until I moved up north and, wow, they are MISERABLE. Zyrtec is my saving grace all season.) As part of the partnership, I was invited to speak on a panel about beauty and allergies. Jordana Brewster was on the panel too and omg she is gorgeous and sweet. They asked us to wear florals and/or springy colors. I ended up overnighting this dress; 100% recommend and it’s under $100.

Okay Carly, I have to admit…. YOUR DOGS GIVE ME LIFE!!! I recently started school again but have been dying to get a mini-schnauzer.. finally decided that my “grad gift” to myself when I finish in a few years will be to get a dog. But Teddy and Ham just keep me going !! Love their little smiling faces!!

as someone whose first grays started to appear with puberty (no joke!) I totally understand you. I have chestnut brown and fine hair and I tried coloring it but it totally ruined my hair. It even thinned a lot, and took me long time to grow it out. Now at 24 I just live with it, even though I still have to ”explain” my hair situation and people just don’t understand it.

Same for me! It took me a while to come to terms with my gray, but my husband loves it, and every time I go to a salon the stylists comment on how nice it looks, so I’m learning to love it too! It’s feels very affirming to see women decide not to dye their gray.

Yes! I think everyone should do what they want, but I think it’s important for women to know they don’t HAVE to dye their hair!

Yes!!! Ugh I got my first grey hair when I was 15 and people made so much fun of me about it, and now that I am in medical school at 29 (surrounded by 22 year olds), I have even more grey hair! At first, I was really embarrassed because I felt so self conscious having grey hair with 22 year olds around, but now I have just accepted it, and it’s totally fine! Rocking my grey hair!!! Thanks for the picture Carly and being so outspoken about your hair and not hiding it – it was so refreshing!

Congrats on starting to get settled in! It’s always amazing how long it takes to get truly settled in – we moved down the hall a month ago and there’s still some bins around. Don’t worry about how long it takes to be all settled – you’ll get there! xAllie http://www.theallthatglittersblog.com

Like Anna below, I too started going gray as a teenager. I’m 24 now and I just let them grow out. I have dark hair like you and honestly, it’s not a big deal. I love that you’re doing that too. Great post!

That breakfast sandwich looks INCREDIBLE. Holy yum. I totally feel you on the gym and those feelings. When I moved to Chicago, I found a studio and trainer I loved and I nearly cried when I found out he was moving to a new studio. Fast forward a few months and I now live across the street from where he landed and have been going there consistently. I also was found another trainer I loved there and then she left a few months ago and I had the same feelings all over again! I just hired her for PT once a week and I can’t wait to get started 🙂 Happy Thursday!

Your boyfriend seems like quite the cook! That’s one reason I was drawn to my husband when we were dating…he could cook!

Love the snaps! Don’t ever feel bad for falling behind blog wise. Life sometimes gets in the way!

LOL to Zyrtec. I use that all the time for my allergies! Claritin makes me so sleepy but Zyrtec does the complete opposite. The pups look soooo happy and your BF seems like an amazing chef, holy cow! Fun seeing glimpses into your life!

Isn’t it so nice to have a back yard for the pups? Boots would die without it! Also your boyfriend should be a profesh chef slash if he ever wants to recipe test on me, I’m game 🙂

I’m not sure if you’re already planning this, but I’d love to read about how you merged styles with your boyfriend in your new place! I’m moving in with mine next month and am excited&onerous to see how our decor styles combine. My style is very similar to yours and my boyfriend loves modern, metal type things. Also I love the striped trivet you guys have!! So cute!

I actually love your gray streak (very Stacy London of you!) and love that you don’t want to dye it. That makes me feel better about going gray!
