Hello

This week is not turning out how I had originally expected it to. The new “go with the flow” me is totally fine with it though because in a way it feels like I got an extra week. As exciting as my travel plans were, I would never say no to a quiet week at home. I hadn’t scheduled anything for the week because I wasn’t supposed to be here and it’s been so nice. And it’s only Tuesday!!

Movie Popcorn

On Saturday, my boyfriend was out of town and I had the laziest of lazy days. I slept in, and the dogs did too, which is a rare treat. All I did was lay around the apartment in yoga pants and a sweater watching all the movies. I’m sort of embarrassed by how lazy the day was, but truly… I enjoyed it and felt completely refreshed. I watched Sierra Burgess Is a Loser (a new Netflix movie that I don’t recommend), 32 Pills (an intense documentary about loss, family, and addiction), Bad Seed (a very ~Lifetime Movie~ remake from Lifetime if you know what I mean), the first episode of You (a new Lifetime show), and then I went and saw A Simple Favor (so different than I was expecting and didn’t love it).

Sunday was more productive, so I felt like the weekend wasn’t a total loss. I worked out, switched over my wardrobe from warm to cold weather, and even went to a panel in NYC. It was with Reese Witherspoon, Neela Montgomery (the CEO of Crate and Barrel), Tracy Sun (the founder of Poshmark), and moderated by Elaine Welteroth (former EIC of Teen Vogue). I’ve been to a lot of panels where the topics are about women and women in business. This one was particularly interesting and I felt like the three panelists had unique perspectives and different career paths to discuss. They filmed the event, so I will definitely share the video when it’s live.

Monogrammed CarryOn

I finally bit the bullet and bought a carry-on suitcase. I usually go for a big tote or a weekender, or check my bag and just carry on a tote or backpack. While weekenders are great for throwing into the back of a trunk, they can get heavy when you have to walk a mile through an airport. After deliberating a bit on which bag to get (so many options nowadays), I went with the Mark and Graham carry-on that matches my big checked spinner. When I got through the security line during my trip to Tampa last week, I literally texted my friend (who ultimately convinced me that the carryon was worth it) and told her that my airport life would never be the same. Why on EARTH did I wait so long?! (PS I had a bunch of questions about the tote, it’s currently on sale!)

Good news about my feet. (Because I know you’re on the edge of your seats waiting for an update.) A few weeks ago, I was talking about how my feet were just covered in blisters. It was an awful couple of weeks while they healed, but I think I’m finally in the clear. A few of you mentioned it was likely from the heat… and you were right! I actually bought a pair of shoes during this time and they’re huge. I think my feet were just super swollen for two weeks straight so nothing fit properly. Between that and the heat, it was a recipe for disaster. Oh, and the toe that I stubbed a while back? The nail fell off (so gross haha) and the new nail is slowly but surely coming in. I never thought I’d be so happy to have non-swollen, non-blistered feet.

Kiehl's Lip Butter

When I went to Florida last week, I somehow left without fully switching over my purse. It was 4 am when I walked about the door so I didn’t check what I actually had with me. Thankfully I had my wallet (and randomly four pens), but not much more than that. The only thing I really missed was my Chapstick. While at the mall with my mom, I ended up getting this lip balm and it’s great! It’s aptly named Butterstick… it’s so buttery!

So, I have been trying to figure out what to do with my Youtube channel. Even though I haven’t committed that much time to it, I actually really enjoy filming videos. (I think I prefer videos over photos!) But I just wasn’t sure what kinds of videos I wanted to do. I stopped for a while because of the comment issue I was experiencing, and when I went to get going again… I just wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I think I have a plan though, would love to know what you think! I wrote my list of what I want to do before I turn 30, and I thought it could be really fun to make it into a Youtube series, documenting (what can be documented) what I do throughout the year. I’m going to try to film a little trailer for it and probably the first “episode.” I’m hoping it turns out as well as it is in my head hah.

The YouTube series sounds great 😊 honestly I think it would be fun to film/post the things that don’t work out too, so it’s not so perfect and produced!

I’ve been following your blog for a while now, but haven’t checked out your YouTube channel yet.
A Year in Your Life would be great to watch, especially since I’m turning 30 on about a year as well.

I love these kind of posts, they remind of the good old days when blogging was like an online calendars and way to keep track of our days!

I enjoyed watching your travel vlogs, so please implement a few whenever you can!

Love the little life update post 🙂
Most importantly… Yes to the YouTube channel! I have been missing your videos the past few months. Personally I love to see lifestyle videos, life advice/motivation, and your Q&A videos are always so fun. The idea of filming your 30 by 30 list is awesome too. Can’t wait to see what you decide!

Have you seen The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society? It kept popping up on my Netflix until I watched it. It was so good, but very emotional.

I love love love this type of post! I know that you beautifully curate so much of your content, but just as you’ve recently been sharing more iPhone snaps on your insta, I love how “real life” this is – like going to coffee with you and talking about a bunch of random things! Have a great Tuesday 🙂

I’m such a homebody so I love love love slow days in :3 I saw Netflix pushing Sierra Burgess, but I watched the trailer and read some reviews and wasn’t that interested — glad to see that confirmed! Reviews were saying that the film didn’t deserve the cast it got (as in the cast was too good for the film) haha. The plot is kinda creepy. I’ve been watching true crime documentaries though. I recently got hooked on a true crime podcast, so I’ve fallen back into the true crime hole 😛 // Looking forward to seeing the video from the panel! // Congrats on your non-swollen, non-blistered feet! Having uncomfortable walks is one of my easiest mood killers, so I totally get the excitement! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

Isn’t it crazy what the heat can do to your feet?! So glad you figured out what was causing it. My feet are still recovering from doing allll the walking around Chicago this summer. Might be time to treat myself to a long overdue pedicure haha. Enjoy your Tuesday!

Love these kind of posts, Carly. (Love all your posts but I love knowing you’re only human at the end of the day!) I’m so glad you had a lazy day – you’re Wonder Woman and even she needs a break!

Thank you for just sharing! Sometimes it’s nice to see bloggers are real people who have lazy weekends!
You should totally keep doing Youtube videos! I like the idea of documenting your 30 bucket list- and you’ll have the awesome videos to rewatch those amazing moments.

I enjoy all of your posts. From the flow and variety of content, this one I found very refreshing for some reason. Like a great catch up with a friend. A little bit of this and that. I think your youtube idea sounds amazing! I am turning 30 in a few months and I’ve been thinking of ways to mark this event special for me. Definitely would follow along as your check off your ‘before 30’ list.

Sometimes you just need a lazy day to recoup! I call them mental health days. It stinks that you couldn’t really find anything good to watch! It’s hard to find good movies anymore.
I absolutely love your Youtube channel, so I hope you continue it, even if takes some experimenting! The 30 before 30 list would make an excellent series!!

I think that youtube series sounds really fun! I think cooking/baking tutorials would be really fun as well.

I am so happy you didn’t like Sierra Burgess Is A Loser either. I thought it was trying so hard to be a movie about people who are less attractive still getting the guy and being successful, but it never addressed her lack of confidence. Everything just magically fell into place. Then, when she did something absolutely terrible to another human being, a terrible song that isn’t even an apology is enough to make it better? Um no. I watched it right after “To all the boys I’ve loved before” and it totally ruined the feel-good vibes I had going.

If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend To All The Boys I Loved Before on Netflix. It’s a very cute YA rom-com that nails sweet/funny without being cheesy. Perfect rainy day movie!

I love the idea of your before 30 list becoming a series on YouTube! I prefer the more casual vlog style videos most of the time anyway. I have always loved your fashion and interiors content as well (loved your office tour)!!
