Longboat Key

We’re heading off for Longboat Key today!  Two summers ago, my parents and I went without Sporty Sister… she was in Spain, so don’t feel too bad 😉
I love Longboat Key so much.  Sarasota is close enough to Tampa where it’s not too bad of a trek, but far enough away where we’re most definitely on vacation.
When we were there last, my BEST FRIEND in the entire world flew down and I drove up to the airport to pick her up.  We had a blast and walked up and down the beach exchanging stories from our first year at college.  (By the way, whoa… that’s weird.)

As you can tell by the color of my legs… I got a little sunburned.  Eep.

Colie and I had a room to ourselves with a great balcony with an even better view.

The sun is a better friend with Colie than me unfortunately.
Our little cabana.

Sarasota has amazing stores… including a Lilly store that is so cute!  Obviously, we shopped.
Ah, I can’t wait for another memorable vacation!
Have you been to Sarasota/Longboat before?  Any restaurant recommendations?
xoxo

I used to live in Sarasota and now we have a place on Siesta Key. Definitely go to First Watch for breakfast (downtown-main street) and Caraguilos for amazing pizza (also downtown- south palm ave), and kilwins for ice cream on longboat key. I'm studying abroad in Spain right now but I'm definitely jealous you get to be in srq!! Love your blogs by the way!

Siesta Key is my favorite place! Phillippi (sp?) Creek is casual but never disappoints with their crab legs!

Owen's Fish Camp in downtown Sarasota – best southern prepared seafood EVER! Was just in LBK/Anna Maria Island a few weeks ago vacationing from NYC, love that area.

You should definitely go to Mar Vista! I used to visit Sarasota/Longboat all the time when I lived in Tampa Bay. The restaurant is SO cute and the food is delish.

One last thing about the restaurant, it's one the the 10 oldest hurricane surviving buildings! Have fun!

LBK is one of my favorite places ever! I love the Lilly store there, and Dry Dock is delicious! (is that where you are in the 6th pic?)

OMG! I got to school right in Sarasota! I have been in that Lily Pulitzer and the store "Shore" right next door is cute too! You should go to Whiteberry.. a delicious yogurt place that is right in downtown Sarasota on Main Street!

Looks like a fun time! I am sure you will have just as much fun this week! I love sarasota. It is the perfect distance from where I live as well. My fiancé's parents just went there to celebrate their anniversary. What a wonderful location! (:

I grew up on LBK and it still feels like home! I may try to make it over tomorrow for the fireworks. I love the Columbia restaurant on St Armand's (best salad ever), and have you ever been to the Salty Dog? It is over by Mote Marine, kind of a fun place to go that is right on the water.

I live in Sarasota – Right past St. Armands Circle! When I saw that you would be visiting for the holiday, I knew that you HAD to check out the Lilly store in The Cirlce (…given!). As for restaurants, I would check out Saluté downtown off of Main Street for some AMAZING Italian food. Also, Cafe Gambiano in Siesta Village is incredible, also. For a beachier vibe, there is the Old Salty Dog near Mote Marine and The Beach House Restaurant on LBK has amazing views and great food as well! Other restaurants worthy of being noted Euphemia Haye on LBK, Crab & Fin in The Circle and 15 South in The Circle. For breakfast, check out Word of Mouth, The Serving Spoon, First Watch or The Broken Egg!

Hope you enjoy your stay!

I've been to Longboat Key multiple times and I LOVE it! There ws this great Italian place called Don Giovani's, it was tucked in the back of this strip of run down stores, so you may have to ask around fo rit – but it is worth it! Great food and the workers were so nice. The Old Salty Dog is also good, and Kilwin's is a must – their fudge is the BEST.
