And we’re back with another edition of the book club! It’s been quite some time, but I’ve finally read a few books and found one worth sharing. (Books, I’ve realized are kind of like princes… sometimes you have to read a few frogs!)
I heard about Brooklyn Girls by Gemma Burgess on a few blogs that I read. I was intrigued because the concept seemed super similar to myself (i.e. figuring out the Real World) and also intrigued because it takes place in NYC (or, well, mostly Brooklyn. Duh.)
While the book was heavy on obnoxious dialogue (not a fan of the weird and incessant nicknames of the Oopsh thing), it’s really quick and funny and an easy read. Perfect for the summer and even more perfect when you have a lot on your mind and just want to escape.
The characters are ones that you can totally relate to (or at the very least have a friend that totally matches the description). The girls are all facing everything that you face when you’re at the bottom of the totem pole at work, unsure of your passions, dealing with boys, and navigating the murky waters of post-college friendships.
Oh and it really made me crave fresh salads and low-fat brownies.

Easy reads, perfect for lazy days! I like to delve in classics during the summer because school is always filled with intense reading. I just finished The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, which is perfect for the young, woman writer in NYC. I'm so obsessed with it that I wrote about it on my blog. (Also, the Devil Wears Prada sequel, Revenge Wears Prada, looks pretty good!)

Haven't read this, but it sounds like it could be similar to the HBO series "Girls." If you haven't heard/seen the series it's definitely worth a watch. It's a coming-of-age show about 4 girls starting their lives after college in New York. I think you'd enjoy it. Besides the fact that it is absolutely hilarious.

I actually just picked this book up on my last Barnes and Noble trip. It seemed like an easy read, almost similar to the TV show "Girls" (maybe not as risque) and "Girls in White Dresses". I'm excited to read it!

Even though it was kind of unrealistic, I loved this book. Pia is so normal and relatable. I was really rooting for her business to succeed. 🙂
I got an ARC of this a few months ago and LOVED it! I'm so excited to see it all over the place, it was even on Buzzfeed a few weeks ago.
You need to read Lindsay Kelk's I Heart NY, it's a fun cute read and the first of a series of I think about 5 books? Lot's of high fashion in it too.
Read it in 2 days on the beach! Easy and fun read!! Great for 20 somethings! Looking forward to the series!
Currently waiting to find time to start reading 'Revenge Wears Prada' as a sequel to 'The Devil Wears Prada' only Andy like 10 years later. 🙂
