Right Place, Right Time

This is one of my most favorite phrases. To be at the right place at the right time is really the best feeling, isn’t it? You know when you’re feeling extra lucky or something absolutely perfect happens. Recently, I’ve been feeling this all the time. It’s weird, but kind of amazing.
An email from someone I thought I’d never hear from again that couldn’t have come at a better time.
Meeting someone by chance on the sidewalk who turned into a complete blessing!
Running behind for something and then bumping into a mini-celebrity on the corner.
The list goes on.
But here’s what I think. We’re always in the right place at the right time. For good times. For not-so-good times. For the boring times and the exciting times. Honestly, you’re always exactly right where you should be… even if it doesn’t feel like it.
This is definitely something that my favorite book Zen and the Art of Happiness would agree on. Actually, it probably said this a million times just not in a way that truly sunk in with me. It’s kind of a new angle that I hadn’t really considered. Now I get it even more.
One of my friends was kind of resentful about something that happened years and years ago. It definitely changed the course of what he assumed his life plan was. But I reminded him that that he was right where he needed to be. This moment, this time, and this place was right for him. Replaying and wishing won’t get him anywhere!
I’ve been trying to keep track of how I feel when I have those Right Place, Right Time (capital letters necessary) moments so I can remember that feeling when I don’t really feel like I’m in the right place or the right time. (Like when I’m trapped underground on the subway for fifteen minutes due to “train traffic ahead of us.”) Bottling that feeling so I can relive it when I don’t feel like it has been an amazing little trick for me.
My attitude is better. I have less frustration. And I’m totally learning to appreciate every moment for what it is and not for what it’s not. You know what? It’s also painting every experience I have in a positive light!
Count. Me. In.

Oh! It reminded me too of one of my favorite quotes by Oprah: “Breathe. Let go. And remind yourself that this very moment is the only one you know you have for sure.”

This is SO true! We are always in the right place, at the right time. Those moments that suck? They end up leading to those moments that are better than you ever could have imagined.

Thanks so much for sharing this post, it really is a great reminder and came at the perfect time for me.

while looking for a job it is so discouraging that i don't even think i'm in the right place at the right time. but then i have to remind myself that people go through hard times for a reason. so i guess even though i don't FEEL like i'm in the right place at the right time, i am. thanks for that reminder 🙂 i can always count on you for some positivity!

I do believe in being in the right place at the right time but I also find it so frustrating when talking to people and trying to learn about their career path etc and they say well I was just at the right place at the right time. I am sure its true to some extent. I guess the right place at the right time is a double edge sword sometimes.

I love the use of this saying. I have never thought of it that way. My favorite saying is "everything happens for a reason" and one of my greatest fears is being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is a wonderful new perspective!
