Teddy for a Year

I cannot believe it’s been exactly a year since I took Teddy home!!! Exactly one year ago, I was terrified out of my mind wondering what in the world I was thinking getting a dog. The whole day I was in denial that he was actually coming; I couldn’t quite wrap my mind around what was about to happen.
And the next three months were fun and also not-so-fun. Puppies are adorable, but very difficult. I thought I had made the biggest mistake ever by getting him…
And then everything kind of… worked itself out. It took months to really feel 100% comfortable, but every day got better, easier. By the time Teddy was six months old, I pretty much had the hang of it. Now, I can’t imagine my life without him!!! (Plus it helps that he doesn’t wake me up super early.)
He’s such a weird, and adorable, little muffin. Some of the things he does keeps Garrett and me in stitches. I wouldn’t change one thing about him. Even the way he smacks his mouth for thirty minutes after he eats makes me smile!
Happy you’re in the family, Teddy!

A Peachy Sonder

He might just be the cutest pup ever! Congrats on making it through those puppy months- sounds like it was definitely worth it now. Hopefully many more fun years are in store for the two of you.

You getting Teddy reminded me just how much I'd love a dog. My place is still not quite big enough for one but when I do, he'll be just like him! Go and celebrate 🙂

Carly,

I have been following your blog for a long time — I absolutely love it and you! Like you a year ago, I had been wanting a dog so badly but kept convincing myself that I didn't have the time or money for any dog let alone a puppy. But once I read that you had gotten Teddy I was just inspired and reassured — surely if you could do it so could I! A few months later I found the cutest little Chihuahua mix puppy through one of my city's local rescue organizations and I jumped at him. Best decision of my life. Like you I can't imagine life without him and I barely remember what it was like before him. He's the sweetest, silliest little nugget with the sweetest, funniest personality. Keep doing a wonderful job with Teddy, he clearly has a wonderful home, and keep the Teddy posts coming! They're definitely some of my favorites. Plus he's adorable and that just makes me happy!

Love this! Also, this is super crazy because we got our pup, Jack, exactly a year ago today. I am going to post about him too, and it is good to see that you have told us (in this post and before) that having a puppy is most definitely not all it is cracked up to be… it is hard! But it makes the sweet moment that much more enjoyable 🙂 Happy "Gotcha" Day, Teddy, you cute pile of curls!!!

Congrats on Teddy's Gotcha Day! I got my pup, Arya, about a month before you got Teddy and I think I had similar feelings. I may have cried everyday for the first month because I thought I made a huge mistake. But now I couldn't picture my life without her. I've recently moved to DC, and having Arya has been a huge help in getting my out exploring the city (and dog parks).

I got my rescue puppy around the same time you got Teddy last year! Reading your posts gave me a lot of comfort, because I had been having the same worries and doubts as you. But now, a year later, I am so happy that I have my pup! 🙂
