Holiday Tablescape

When my sister and I were younger, we used to make ourselves busy with all sorts of things to avoid helping with the holidays. (Sad, but true confession.) Now that we’re older, it’s actually pretty fun to get swept up into the planning and execution of holiday traditions. 
For Thanksgiving, my mom and grandma and aunt have the cooking down to a science. They divide the dishes up so it’s not as overwhelming. My dad takes care of the turkey. I offered to help with the cooking this year but the only task they would give me was to peel the potatoes for the mashed potatoes, ha.
I did however appoint myself to take care of the tablescape for the dinner and really love the way it turned out. I had a vision for what I wanted it to look like and I have to pat myself on the back for this one.
My grandma and aunt/uncle will all be out of town for Christmas this year… so I took the liberty to incorporate a lot of red to make up for their absence next month. 
I ordered this tablecloth which is currently half off (+ an extra 20% off with the code “friends”) and you can personalize it for free. The quality is incredible. I had to get the matching napkins too. 
Our screened in porch was the perfect setting. I absolutely can understand the appeal of having a snowy, chilly, cozy holiday somewhere up north… but it’s pretty nice being able to sit outside in 75 degree weather to enjoy a wonderful meal with your family. 
I took a trip to Target just to see what they had and ended up getting a few perfect touches to add to the table. After looking up napkin folding on Youtube (I wasn’t playing around), I settled on a simple pocket fold and tucked in these little glittery pinecone picks. I had planned to stick them in with the flower arrangements but thought the roses were too pretty on their own. 
(You can totally DIY the pinecone pick too if you’re crafty!)
I used some of my mom’s plain vases to house the roses and just used two layers of silver berry garland at the base.
I wish we had dinner at a fancy table every night– it was a lot of fun planning it all and putting it together!
(I wore a plaid button down and navy leggings… perfect for second helpings!)

Random question: were these taken with your 50mm lens? They came out beautifully! I'm looking into new lenses for my Nikon and am thinking about getting a fast lens wider than my 50mm.

Also, the table setting is gorgeous. Saving for later inspiration! 🙂

This is so simple but so elegant. I have eternal as well and plan to use Christmas plaid linens after seeing this!!
