A New Playlist

It’s been way too long since my last playlist. Whenever I’m in the car, I’m almost always listening to an audiobook (right now I’m listening to Hidden Figures, so good) instead of the radio. Luckily for me, Spotify keeps my apartment bumping all day long with the best tunes. If you’re not already a fan of Spotify, you need to sign up. The “Discover Weekly” playlists are, like, magic. I look forward to a new one every week. And the daily playlists are also great since it starts to recognize the artists/vibes you like and it curates perfect playlists for your preferences.

After about ten days of going non-stop, my body decided to crash and I was served a bad head cold. (Pretty sure it’s actually a sinus infection, though, so lovely.) I get sick the second week of February every single year. Like clockwork. I know it’s not scientifically possible, but I swear, I am sick EVERY February. (No really,  every year.)

It has been kind of nice to be forced to take it easy. I cleared my schedule quite a bit this week so I can focus on resting and healing. Here’s a new playlist with some of my current favorite songs that I have been playing on repeat. (It’s a Spotify playlist so you should be able to see and play the songs below, but I’m going to type the titles at the end of the post as well.)

I think I say this every playlist, but this one is my favorite. It’s got a little bit of everything. And at just over an hour long, it’s a great one to listen to while you’re working and then you can take a quick break. I know that it always makes the time go by so fast when I’m doing something not that enjoyable!

“I’m Shakin'” by Rooney // “The Wire” by HAIM // “Dream” by Priscilla Ahn // “She’s So High” by Tal Bachman // “Scars to Your Beautiful” by Alessia Cara // “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” by ZAYN // “Make Me (Cry)” by Noah Cyrus // “Shape of You” by Ed Sheeran // “Bad Things” by Machine Gun Kelly // “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur // “24k Magic” by Bruno Mars // “How Far I’ll Go” by Alessia Cara // “Play That Song” by Train // “Dirty Paws” by Of Monsters and Men // “Running for Cover” by Ivan & Alyosha // “Fire and the Flood” by Vance Joy // “The Cave” by Monsters and Men // “Lost in my Mind” by The Head and the Heart

Any songs that you can’t get enough of right now?

My favorite song is “down” by Marian Hill. It made it to the top charts. Check it out. It takes a second to get used to but the beat is good and it’s honestly my favorite!!!

I’m a super Spotify fan, too. I’ve been playing the “Morning Commute” playlist for a while now after another blogger recommended it. Great recommendations here, Carly. Thanks. Feel better!

I love Spotify! It’s my go-to for work and my commute. I’ve been listening to the La La Land album on repeat, it’s so good!

I was going to recommend Of Monsters and Men but you beat me to it! I saw them open for Florence and the Machine this summer and could not believe how good they were! I have two of their albums on repeat right now. Since you seem to have an eclectic music taste (as do I!) I’d recommend Pick up the Phone by Young Thug. My teenage son recommended it to me and I can’t get it out of my head! Such a great song! xx Rox-Anne, Celebratingthislife.ca

I went to an Of Monsters and Men concert last year and it was INCREDIBLE. They’re such amazing performers and, unlike some musicians, even better live.

Hi Carly,

I like you always get sick during the second week of February. I was just talking with one of my co-workers and was saying that I always get sick this week and wouldn’t you know it I have the head cold! One thing I find super helpful is hot water, a tablespoon of honey, and 2-3 drops of both the essential oils lemon and thieves. It smells amazing, helps a sore throats, and helps clear out some sinus with out medication!

Hope this helps and your feeling better soon!

I would do a fair amount of research about essential oils before ingesting them as many are really harmful and toxic. That said oils can be used safely topically or for inhalation

Passion Pit has super catchy songs too! I also really love Lana Del Ray, Owl City, Birdy, Seafret, and Milk & Bone.
