Trench Weather

I know it’s still February– and I know we will definitely have more snow in our future– but this weekend is the springiest weather ever. I’m talking perfect sixty-degree pure sunshine days. The birds are non-stop chirping outside, and I can’t stop smiling.

I absolutely can’t stand getting dressed in the winter. I swear I wear a combination like this for my everyday look. Sweater, jeans, coat. Bam. Done and simple. I love that when it’s a little warmer out, even if there’s snow on the ground still, a trench coat is almost all that you need.

My mom bought me this trench when I was still at Georgetown actually, and it’s, to this day, one of my favorite coats in my closet. I’ve thought about “upgrading” the coat, and I might eventually want a more tailored trench for sure, but this one is perfectly relaxed and is easily thrown on or off.

I can’t get enough of this bow sweater either. I was having second thoughts about it when I first got it because the bow is big and borderline ridiculous. But it just kind of flops over so it’s not like some giant in-your-face bow.

Fingers crossed that we get a few more of these beautiful weekends!

I totally understand what you mean about getting dressed in the winter; I’m a teacher and end up wearing a variation of the same thing every single day! I can’t wait until spring when I have the motivation to wear lots of fun new outfits to work!

Love this trench! I have been slowly rebuilding my wardrobe after doing a huge overhaul last Fall, and have been looking for classic, staple pieces just like this! Thanks for sharing!

I am a bit farther north than you in NH so it was more like 40s-maybe 50 this weekend, but I agree, I am so ready for spring! Nice to be outside without the big winter jacket 🙂

I thought that sweater was so cute when I saw it – it looks great on you! I considered maybe wearing it backward…
Great post!

Hey Carly! How do you keep your sweaters from shrinking? I have several J. Crew Factory cable knit sweaters that have shrunk in all the worst ways even though I have only dried them a few times. I usually just wash them and hang dry. What can I do to prevent this in the future?

I’ve had the same trench coat since high school and it’s still working just fine for me! I love pieces that can stay with you for years and years! This is such a cute look! Your accessories are especially classic and elegant!

Oh how I love a trench coat, it instantly makes outfits look put together 🙂 I have both a navy and a natural coloured one 🙂
