On My Radar

I had a few fun things this week, which broke up the normal work week. The first was speaking at a local high school for their career day. I experienced some serious déjà vu as I was getting ready that morning and then walking through the hallways. Felt like I was just in high school, even though it’s been ten years! I spoke to two classrooms with students in every grade. I’m not sure how many people were interested in making a career in social media, but I was thinking about what I wish I had heard from someone when I was in high school. I talked a lot about my journey and emphasized that following your passions is important and your dream job might not even exist right now! Blogging as a career certainly wasn’t around when I was in high school and who knows what technology is being created right now (Elon Musk has to have even more up his sleeve!).

And then… on Wednesday… I fulfilled my childhood dream of dancing with the Rockettes. Venus invited a few girls in for a dance lesson, and it was SO much fun. I filmed a video so once that’s edited and live, I will be sharing that on here along with all of my thoughts. Bottom line: it was one of the best days of my life. Unfortunately, I’m 1/2 an inch too short to be a Rockette, but a girl can dream. (I also quit dance for good in eighth grade, so there’s also my lack of training getting in the way 😂 )

Pottery Barn Faux Fur Blanket

Here’s everything that’s been on my radar this week. Apparently, I’m very into videos right now. Nothing like happy videos around the holidays to bring a smile to your face.

ONE // Family Christmas Dance

I know this has to be at least the third year that I’ve shared this family’s annual dance video. They nail the choreography every time, and I just love that they are all having such a great time with it! You can feel the love!!

TWO // Inclusive Water Park

If you only click on one link from today’s post, make it this one. This dad created an inclusive water park in Texas that everyone can enjoy. I think I’ve mentioned the park on here before too, but this was the best interview I’ve seen. You can see how much joy the park brings the kids who get to go and him. I really liked the part where he said he wasn’t trying to create a “special needs” park, but instead an “inclusive” park. It’s for everyone, regardless of ability. Lots of takeaways from this that can be implemented everywhere.

THREE // Black and White Gown

This gown is a little out of my price range, and not to mention I don’t have an event to wear it to… but it’s gorgeous, and I had to share it.

FOUR // Hanson’s Christmas Concert

Who didn’t love Hanson’s “MMMbop” back in the 90s?! Hanson is all grown up and, um, they’re still amazing. Loved this clip from a Christmas concert they recently performed. Their new Christmas album is on Spotify, just as an FYI too!

FIVE // Gigi New York’s Apple Watch Band

Gigi New York just released a line of leather Apple Watch bands… I’m eyeing the pink one!

SIX // Puppy Excited by the First Snow

Rumor has it that we might get some snow this weekend. My dogs love the snow for a few minutes at a time. Ham really goes crazy in it. This puppy’s reaction to his first snowfall is everything.

Aw i love this! I love that you went to go talk at a school, I wish my school had done interesting guest speakers but we only had people in pretty ‘normal’ jobs. Your dog’s dogs are soo cute!

Thanks for sharing the waterpark article/interview! I love that you pointed out the difference between “special needs” and just inclusive, for all – it’s a distinction that is really important, because so many people still do think in the black-and-white, special needs vs. “normal” mindset.
