PLAYLIST No. 21

Now that I have an actual office space in my new apartment (🙌🏻), I have been in a highly productive mode at all times. It’s amazing what natural light will do for you. I kind of underestimated it in my old apartment. I knew it bothered me that my desk was set up in a windowless space (the only light was from a few dull overhead lights). It wasn’t until I set my desk up right in front of three big windows that I realized what a difference it makes though.

I’ve also been trying to workout first thing in the morning. I’m normally pretty good about sitting down at my desk around 7 am to get cracking on my inbox. However, checking my workout off at 7 and being done, showered, and at my desk at 8:30 is also pretty great. I thought I was pretty alert before, but man, after a workout it’s a new level.

Ooookay, this is all to say that my productivity has also translated into more time listening to music on Spotify. As I was listening to my latest playlist, I couldn’t remember if I had shared it on here or not… and I hadn’t!

This playlist is just under an hour. I use it as a good measure of time throughout the day. When I get through the playlist, I know it’s probably time for a little break, even if it’s just to walk to the kitchen to refill my cup of water. (It’s also a good way to make sure I’m not spending too much time on one particular task– something that I can fall victim to!)

I’ve never thought about using playlists to set intervals with my working habits! I’m always listening to music (when I wake up and try to pump myself up for the day, when I walk to class, when I work, etc.) and would definitely pay attention when my playlist ended. Thanks for sharing your productivity hack, and for sharing this playlist! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

It is amazing the difference a bit of natural light can make, if I am feeling unproductive in my office I always go and sit in the conservatory for a little while & voila! This playlist looks amazing, I love Gabrielle Aplin and can’t wait to discover some new artists! Thanks so much for sharing.

Have you tried the Pomodoro method for productivity? 25 minutes of concentrated work, five minute break. I am also someone who can spend too much time on one task. This method forces me to move on to something else. Works like a charm for me.

I use a Chrome browser extension with the 25/5 timer built in. Click to start, and then a small notification pops up when your 25 or five are over.

Envious of all of those windows and natural light! I know exactly what you mean—my workspace this year is at a desk in a windowless, cement-block room…it has not proved the most productive workspace! But I love having great playlists, and that helps! Thank you for sharing this one!

I think this is a great post! Sometimes it’s nice to see a sampling of the day to day. It’s also comforting to know that I’m not the only one with a huge list of things I want to write about and struggle with the time to really make it what you want it to be.
