Beaches

Gingham Bikini

During our quick visit to Nantucket a couple of weeks ago, we had one perfectly warm afternoon that was fit for a trip to the beach. Packing a bathing suit at all was wishful thinking, but it appears that it brought us good luck with the weather. It would be such a shame to visit Nantucket and not go to the beach.

I’m actually heading back in a week from today and I CANNOT WAIT. Have I mentioned how much I love Nantucket recently? 😉

PS I have been getting a bunch of questions about Nantucket. I put together a comprehensive guide last year that I think answers just about every question from how to get there, where to stay, restaurants to visit, and what to do there!

I bought this bathing suit on a whim one day. I had put it in my shopping cart where it sat for a while and then I just went ahead and ordered it when I was buying something else. I actually forgot that I had placed the order and almost threw it out because it was so thin in the packaging! Thankfully I caught my mistake in time to rescue it!

(If you caught my Instagram from Memorial day, I wore it for the first time there and twinned with two of my favorite babies.)

I wasn’t totally sure how it was going to fit and if I’d ultimately keep it… but it’s fantastic. Highly recommend this if you’re looking for a full coverage suit that’s still a bikini. I feel 1,000% secure in the top which is crucial for me!!

It also comes in a one piece, an underwire top, and a high waisted bottom.

I picked up the hat earlier in the day from Southern Tide and, wow, the brim is such a great shape and the bow on the side is obviously a great touch!

If the above picture doesn’t make you want to hop on the next ferry to Nantucket, I don’t know what will!!

I also got a bunch of questions about this coverup. I’ve had it since last year and I wear it all the time at home. It obviously works as a coverup, but it’s a great option to just throw on for errands or dog walks. Whenever I want to feel comfortable, it’s something I reach for. (It runs a little big so I’d recommend going down a size… I’m wearing the XXS.)

Cute find as always, Carly! Love the hat! There’s nothing like the beach to make you happy, right?

I know this is stupidly personal, but as someone with a similar body type- what size did you go with for the b-suit top? It’s been so long since I’ve bought a bathing suit top that wasn’t bra sized, and 34D is hard to shop for in S,M,L.

Why does your stomach have a hole in it in that last picture? It looks like your skin is being stretched out

Hi! I’m a new reader {found you via Gal Meets Glam}. Really love your blog and as a fellow prepster, your great style!

I just left a comment on the guide to Nantucket post you linked but just now realized it was from summer 2017. SO…on the chance you wouldn’t see my comment/questions there, I wanted to paste it here as well!

That linked Nantucket post is such a comprehensive travel guide for an area my husband and I have long wanted to visit ~ it’s a huge help! We had actually been discussing a trip to the area this September, so that 2017 post could not be more helpful and timely! Thank you!

Question for you: we live in Texas, will be flying in from there and would like to see as much of the area as possible on our trip. Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod are on my must-see list while we are in that part of the country. Do you think it would be possible to see all three on the same trip and if so, could we base out of Cape Cod? {which town?} And then, could we ferry over to both Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard for different day trips? We would probably prefer to stay in one location, if possible, and do day trips rather than pack/move between the three places. We really would like to see all three places while we’re there! Just not sure if that would be possible time-wise with ferry schedules? But honestly, after reading this post, I’m now completely re-thinking our earlier idea of basing in Cape Cod! What are your thoughts about flying in early morning to Cape Cod, spend the day trying to see a bit of it, BUT then base out of Nantucket? {and take a day trip to see Marther’s Vineyard?} In other words, which of the three places do you think would be the most fun/memorable/easiest to BASE out of?

Any tips you have about trying to do that would be so appreciated! Also, do you have any travel posts you’ve done for the Cape and Martha’s Vineyard? If so I will definitely look them up!

Thanks so much, Carly. So glad to have found your blog. For both great fashion AND travel advice!
