Skirting the Rules

This skirt might be my favorite item from J. Crew this year. They nailed absolutely everything about it. It’s truly a closet staple for summertime and can be dressed up and dressed down. Wear it to work or over a bathing suit at the beach. I really, really hope they bring it back in solids and more prints throughout the year. Tweeds in the fall, plaid in the winter!!! Seriously, I’d buy it in every print/color they brought it back in.

The fit is perfection! It zips in the back so you don’t have to worry about the wrap undoing while you’re out and about. I found it to fit true to size– I usually wear a 0 in J. Crew skirts and got the 0 in this one. The length is also just right. I don’t have the figure (or height) to really pull off a pencil skirt or midi skirt and J. Crew hasn’t been doing too many at this length. Was super excited to try it on and was even more excited when it fit perfectly and looked great.

Seriously, if you buy one skirt this summer, make it this one!

I also used to wear button downs all the time, but I’ve been a little neglectful of them lately. I was going to style the skirt in a casual manner for the blog (aka a t-shirt and Jack Rogers) and at the last minute, I decided to pull out one of my favorite button ups! I’m so glad I did– I love the way this outfit looks.
