On My Radar

Happy Friday, friends! I’m on my way to Florida this morning. So depending on when you read this, I might already be there! I’m doing a super early flight to make the most of my short weekend there. I’m flying down for my 10-year high school reunion. A bunch of my friends, who all moved out of state too, sadly backed out… but I’m still going! I’m excited to see people I haven’t seen in years. At first I wasn’t going to go, but how many chances in life do we get to all get together like this?

Overall, this week was pretty fun! After traveling for three weeks, it felt good to unpack and get laundry going and settle back into a more regular routine. I think the biggest highlight for me though was going out to Eleven Madison Park for dinner. It was my birthday gift to my boyfriend (please note: six months ago ha!) and we finally got a reservation. They take reservations a month in advance and we just hadn’t been able to commit to a date that far in advance… so I was signing up for the waitlist as often as I could. On Tuesday morning I got a call that there had been a cancelation and we were IN! It was such a fun surprise.

This was my second time going and even better than I remembered. If you have the chance, I highly, highly recommend it. They knock everything– food, experience, service– out of the park. It’s one of the top restaurants in the world (currently number four). Each course was delicious, but I think my favorite was the corn souffle. My boyfriend loved the tomato tea (the liquid in the photo below) and they sent us home with two jars of it! How nice is that!?!?

Eleven Madison Park

Here’s what was on my radar this week:

ONE // “I Bleached My Virgin Hair”

I have no intentions of dying my hair as I really like my super dark hair and can’t imagine myself any other way. But it’s something I dream about every now and then. If I were to dye my hair, I think I’d go for a dark auburn. I’m very jealous of redheads ha! I loved this video from Refinery29 about a woman dying her hair blonde– I think she looked amazing before AND after!!! What a serious transformation!

TWO // Oatly

I am obsessed with oat milk right now. I always like the idea of almond milk, but in actuality, I hate the taste. Oat milk is now popping up in coffee shops everywhere and if you spot it, try it! Once I got a taste of it, I was hooked. I usually take my coffee black, but now I’ve been adding a splash of oat milk and it changes the game. I found Oatly at a Hoboken “food store” so I can have it with my coffee at home, not just out and about.

THREE // Technivorm Moccamaster Coffee Maker

Speaking of coffee at home, our coffee maker bit the dust. (It was literally three months after the warranty ended, go figure 🙄.) I started researching coffee makers and fell down a rabbit hole. I was tempted to go with a basic coffee maker for under $50, but kept finding these beautiful machines that people swore made better cups. I narrowed it down to the three machines and my friend Meg (who did a lot of research too!) convinced me to go with this Moccamaster! It’s WAY MORE than I thought I’d ever spend on a coffee maker, but it is something we use at least once a day when we’re home…. so I splurged. I can’t wait for it to arrive!!

FOUR // The Try Guys

Have you ever watched a “Try Guys” video on Youtube? They recently split from Buzzfeed to form their own company and independent channel. (And already have almost three million followers in their first month.) One of the videos they posted was about the behind the scenes of setting up the company, both the fun stuff and the challenges. If you have your own company, you might relate to a lot of what they share! When they start breaking down the boxes and taking out the trash, I couldn’t stop laughing. Honestly, I spend between 30 and 45 minutes every day opening and breaking down cardboard boxes. It’s far from glamorous!

FIVE // Dancing Dentist

With this whole “In My Feelings” challenge going on, I’ve had the stupid song stuck in my head for days! I think this dentist wins the whole challenge though. Loved it!

SIX // Baby Flamingos

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a baby flamingo before. Is this little guy not the cutest animal you’ve ever seen in your life?!?!?

That coffee maker (well, slightly different model with the thermal carafe instead of glass so it stays hot all day!) might just be my favorite fit off my husband and mines wedding registry. I felt silly registering for such an expensive coffee maker but watching the bubbles as I make a cup over the past few years still brings me such joy knowing a delicious coffee is going to be ready soon!

omg I love Oatly milk! It’s so much richer and creamier than almond milk. My fiance doesn’t do great with dairy, and he also doesn’t like almond milk that much. The first time he tried oat milk at a coffee shop he immediately ordered a case of it online lol, it’s so good!
Cheers,

OMG I’ve had never seen baby flamingos before, I know they obtain pink feathers when adult due to their diet of brine shrimp and blue-green algae, however, I didn’t know they look like that when young!! ❤❤

I would love to hear the other coffee makers you were considering! I am thinking about getting a Nespresso

A $70 Cuisinart and a Ninja something! I LOVE nespresso but my boyfriend works from home a lot so having a pot of coffee for the two of us makes more sense right now!

These are always my favorite posts to read. It feels like catching up with a friends and I always find such great things to watch, read, buy, and look up. That coffee machine looks like heaven!!! I can’t wait to hear how you like it. I am a coffee snob so I would probably love to have a fancy one too!

Not trying to push you to dye your hair–especially since I’ve never dyed my own–but you would look INCREDIBLE with Auburn hair!
