Shop Small

It’s Small Business Saturday! I love the whole idea of it. While I do my fair share of shopping at big brands, I also try to shop locally and small as much as possible. In Hoboken, there are two shops that I particularly love: Little City Books and Washington General Store.

Little City Books is the most quaint corner bookstore tucked away on a Hoboken street. It’s straight out of You’ve Got Mail. The front of the store has a great selection of books and it’s impossible to go in and not find something that you want to read. And in the back, there’s the Children’s Book Annex, which would have been my dream place as a kid. It’s PACKED with books. I pop in there every few weeks to see what’s new and I generally walk out with a book or two for myself and for gifts.

The Washington General Store is THE cutest gift shop. It’s tiny but loaded with the best ideas for gifts. Candles, cards, home decor, holiday decorations, kids/baby things… everything! I’ve gone in for little things for birthday gifts and hostess gifts.

You can also support small businesses, even if they’re not local. I thought for this post, I’d round up some of my very favorite artists, most of whom are friends of mine! I love their work and think you will too, if you don’t already know about them.

Can you please post what brand your mom’s outfits are? I absolutely love her sense of style. I need that stripe shirt she was wearing when you gave her the Christmas cards. I also loved her dress on the porch picture. Many thanks! Keep up the great work. You always look fantastic!!

I follow some of my favourite businesses on social media, which is how I first learned about Small Business Saturday! I spent today walking through three different neighbourhoods to do my holiday shopping at small businesses <3 In my opinion, the most unique gifts I found were prints by local artists. Besides that, I also kept reaching for clever stocking stuffers instead of actual gifts, so I still have more holiday shopping to go! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

I have been trying to support small shops a lot more this year because I really resonated with the idea that I’m buying from a creator! I’m proud to say that this Black Friday, I only bought from small shops! Of course I love some pieces from big stores, but so many small shops have the BEST cutie pieces!
