5 Easy Appetizers for Every Occasion

We have friends over quite a bit (well, at least once a week which feels like a lot for an introvert). And I’m absolutely terrible about hosting– I usually just defer to Mike when it comes to the food. Although, I’m really great at desserts like chocolate chip cookies and s’mores. I’m going to have to file these recipes from Louisa away for our next dinner party or game night.

5 Easy Appetizers for Every Occasion

Guest post by Louisa from Living Lou

I’ve been doing a lot of impromptu entertaining recently. The kind where nothing is really planned, but somehow you end up having a small group of friends over and you need to whip up a few snacks on the fly. I always have chips and salsa in my cupboard, but I try to also have a few ingredients on hand for making these quick appetizers.

1. Blistered shishito peppers

These have become my go-to. Three ingredients is all it takes and they are done in literally 10 minutes. If you’ve never try shishito peppers, you can thank me later. They are a mild pepper–only one in ten are spicy.

2. Bruschetta

Especially now that summer is almost here, bruschetta will quickly become one of the easiest, crowd-pleasing favorites. I like to use little cherry tomatoes because they are so sweet! ‘

3. Avocado feta dip

Along with having salsa on hand, this avocado feta dip is a twist on homemade guacamole but in my opinion, it’s even better.

4. Prosciutto wrapped shrimp

This is a little more on the fancy side (both shrimp and prosciutto are expensive ingredients), but it’s delicious. This is a good dish if you’re bringing something to a friend’s house for dinner.

5. 5-ingredient stuffed mushrooms

Five ingredients–this recipe is literally foolproof! Everyone loves stuffed mushrooms and this couldn’t be easier with goat cheese and hot Italian sausage for flavor.

oooh yes, bruschetta! For the last few weeks, I’ve had friends over for dinner and Game of Thrones on Sunday nights. For dinner, we usually make a main and an appetizer, so this will come in handy! Though for the final episode, we’re thinking about getting take out from Shake Shack since they have a Game of Thrones menu hehe… -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
