7 Mother’s Day Worthy Recipes

Two weeks ago, Louisa and I actually got together for coffee while she was visiting NYC. I couldn’t believe that after all these years (a stint of contributing to a digital magazine and then four years of guest posting!) we still hadn’t met. It felt like we had already known each IRL. Loved her so much and can’t wait to plan a trip to Toronto to visit!!!

7 Mother’s Day Worthy Recipes

One of the (many) reasons that I love to cook is because it brings so much joy to the people I love. Whether it’s delivering the countless tubs of ice cream (I’ve been testing lots of summery flavors) to my friends in my neighborhood, or cooking my parents dinner on a Thursday night, for no reason other than “just because,” it’s such an easy way to bring a smile to someone’s face.

With Mother’s Day coming up this weekend, what better way to show your mom (or grandmother!) how much you care by making them something special?

For the mom who is always on the go:

My suggestion? Wake up early and whip her up something special for breakfast in bed—this one pan English breakfast is a total show-stopper, or go for something a little “fancier” (but still so easy) with my asparagus and smoked salmon tart.

For the mom with a sweet tooth:

It’s almost time for rhubarb, so this strawberry rhubarb crisp will fit the bill, or, opt for something chocolatey with my super decadent and rich flourless chocolate cake.

For the mom who needs a night off:

Forget about breakfast in bed, how about making your mom dinner this weekend? Italian sausage and pepper baked pasta is a winner, balsamic jalapeno roasted chicken and potatoes is very sophisticated (and simple), or go with my mom’s favorite, spinach and mushroom risotto.
