Blazer & T-Shirt

A few weeks ago, I was invited to speak with a group of high school girls. It was a great afternoon. They are so smart and way more mature than I remember being when I was the same age. I shared my career path: what I do and how I got here. I talked about feeling like the world was going to end when I failed my first college exam, but how it led to me starting my blog. We talked about social media, trolls, Tik Tok, self-worth based on likes, and the importance of being careful of what you share and do online. I’m 100% positive I sounded like a grandma, and I kind of felt like it! In some ways, being a teenager seems like an entirely different lifetime ago. And then I’m also like, “Wait, how am I 30?! Wasn’t I just worried about getting into college and studying for the SAT and getting my driver license?

Anyway! This is what I wore!!! I tend to shoot what I wear or what I’m planning to wear with my photographer on different days, but this is a rare occurrence where our shoot day was the same day I visited the school. I got right in my car to drive over.

I actually had no idea what to wear, so I decided to wear this Everlane blazer that I’ve been really obsessed with this winter. It’s put together and dressy-ish but also oversized and not so stuffy. I wore a simple white t-shirt underneath so it would be even more low-key.

I probably didn’t have to wear heels but thought they’d give me a little more confidence for speaking. These are super comfortable.

This is one of my favorite outfits you’ve done recently! I am new to the professional world and would love to see more semi casual/work appropriate outfit ideas!

Thanks!

Great outfit and how nice you were able to speak to the students. You are a great role model.

I was so confused in high school! I would have loved to have a cool 30-year-old come speak to us.

Love this silhouette of blazer. I like the addition of the heels. I’m sure it made you seem like a fancy grown up lady to the high school students.

I have a very similar blazer to this and this exact outfit is my go-to when I have to do anything semi-professional.

Target has a suede pump almost identical to these that I can walk on my feet for a full 8-hour work day!
