Nantucket Bike Ride

I know, I know… another navy and white dress! I’ve actually have had this dress since last year, but I don’t think it ever made it onto the blog. If you follow me on Snapchat though, you’ll probably recognize it as it’s one of the easiest dresses to throw on and I wear it frequently.

This dress is amazing for traveling and packing. There’s a good bit of stretch in the dress, and it doesn’t wrinkle at all! The high neck line is also super flattering, and I love the bright white detailing against the navy.

I have no problem riding bikes in dresses… more often than not I find myself riding one in a dress or cover up and I think I just am used to it. It doesn’t look the most practical, but it’s doable!!

Gal Meets Glam

I was planning on leaving Nantucket the morning of the fifth, but we were having such a good time, and I had nothing to do that couldn’t be done remotely from a computer. I ended up extending my trip by a day which is something I don’t think I’ve ever done. It took a little bit of logistical planning (switching my ferry ticket, calling the parking lot so I wouldn’t get towed, and coordinating the dogs’ boarding) but it was so worth the extra 24 hours with Julia in my happy place.

Nantucket Bike Rentals

I think one of the best ways to see the island of Nantucket is to rent bikes and ride around through the neighborhoods. There’s so much to see, and while a car (preferably a convertible on a nice day) is a great option, there’s nothing quite like a going up and down different lanes at a slower pace. It’s also much easier to stop for snapping photos of all the flowers.

The only warning that I have is that you’ll be tempted to buy your own house or cottage. I swear it’s the best motivation to keep working hard! One day, one day…

Julia and I couldn’t resist matching in our new Peter Beaton hats. Also, a relief for me because I couldn’t seem to stop myself from getting a new sunburn every day despite my best sunscreen efforts. Julia Instagrammed our bikes with the hats saying to guess whose hat belonged to who… everyone knew hers was pink and mine was the navy gingham, ha!

One problem with being friends with Julia? I always find myself shopping her closet. I want her white shirtdress!

Riding bikes around Nantucket sounds like such a dream! I’m with you, I’m never one to extend my trip, but it sounds like it worked out so well!

I’ve always thought that riding a bike in a dress wouldn’t be doable, but you’ve proven me wrong! I think I’d still prefer shorts or pants, but it’s good to know that it’s possible haha 😛 // Love the photo of the two bikes side by side, each with hats, straw baskets, and straw handbags–so charming! // I’m loving Julia’s dress too! I love the sleeves and the skirt. I also love the neckline of your dress! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s

Super cute, always happy to see Lilly back up on your blog! I have the same dress style in the green palm print pattern and I am obsessed with it – so lightweight and the neckline is just beautiful. Hoping Lilly will release it in MANY more colors 🙂

I have that dress, too, and I agree that it is perfect for packing! Also, it is a sundress, but feels a little dressier. I love it!

I hope you had a helmet!!!! It is so dangerous to ride your bike without a helmet–stay safe!!
