On My Radar

Another whirlwind week in the books. Spent just over 24 hours in the city with Gal Meets Glam for their coat launch and then just hunkered down at home. Mike was also away for over a week and it was so nice having him back. I never minded being home alone in any apartment (and, frankly, really enjoy being by myself in general LOL), but the house felt SO lonely without him. It was ~fun~ for a couple of days and then I was, like, “Hi can you come home?!”

GMG

Walking through Central Park with Julia & Lauren and baby Clementine!

Here’s what’s been on my radar this week:

ONE // Sewing Machines Watch Before You Buy

I’m still in the process of figuring out what sewing machine I want. Well, I haven’t had too much time to dedicate to the search. But I have watched some videos on Youtube to help me out, and this one by With Wendy has been so incredibly helpful!!!

TWO // Hand Embroidery Class in NYC

I’m co-hosting an embroidery class with Hibiscus Linens next month in NYC. Mariana is INCREDIBLY talented and I can’t wait to learn from her myself. We’re going to be doing little designs for bookmarks, which should be so fun. It’s going to be super intimate so you’ll get to truly learn the art of embroidery from the best!

THREE // Julie Andrews on GMA

I think we can all agree that Julie Andrews is simply the best. Her interview on Good Morning America had me, literally, in tears. By the end of it, I was sobbing. Just a little warning if you’re going to watch the video while at work or in public or something– have tissues nearby.

FOUR // Tartan Bow Flat

These just arrived and I love love love them. The flats are fun but not too fancy. I think they’ll look best dressed down with jeans and a sweater. A nice little touch of plaid without having to overly commit.

FIVE // Spooky Spreads

Just some delicious and festive party boards/spreads to put out for Halloween parties! I thought these would be great for October book clubs if you’re hosting one or to put out at home while waiting for trick or treaters. I need to try that pumpkin spice cheese situation! I’m intrigued….

I’m not sure if you do audiobooks on audible, but she is actually narrating her book. I am about half way through and it’s fantastic!

Wish I was across the Atlantic to attend your embroidery workshop! Have recently gotten into embroidery myself and it is such a good mindfulness practice.

Re: Julie Andrews, have you read her memoir Home? It’s one of my all-time favorite books that takes an in-depth look into her childhood as a constant performer amidst a troubled home life and ends as she acquires the job of Mary Poppins. I read over Winter Break last year and it was such a treat – she’s a beautiful writer as well. Her continuation of that memoir, Home Work, just came out and I’m DYING to read it!!
