The Lodge Coat

J. Crew’s lodge coat has been one of my favorites for the past few years. It’s definitely the warmest wool coat I own and it’s what I reach for when I’m freezing but don’t want to commit to a puffer. It has everything I want/need in a wool coat for winter and it strikes the perfect balance between looking put together and feeling extra cozy.

(J. Crew also just came out with this swing coat which looks super similar to the lodge but has a hood! And while we’re on the subject of coat, they also finally brought back a peacoat!!!)

If you live in a warmer climate and need a coat in the same style but don’t need as much warmth, J. Crew Factory also carries a version of it. In my experience, the Factory coats aren’t as warm though, so I wouldn’t rely on this one for temps below, like, 40 degrees.

Preppy Fall Outfit

I love the lodge coat because it’s lined with a quilted liner around the core of your body. And the neck and sleeves both have thick cuffs to really keep the cold out!! I like that it’s long but not too long.

And BAH! These shoes. These are not super dressy. They’re actually more casual in person than I was expecting– but they make great “everyday” shoes. The tartan is beautiful and not too Christmasy so they work as fall shoes too. And SUPER comfortable. They actually feel more like slippers than shoes and I am here for the comfort.

Gorgeous shoes! I was hoping they would be closed in the back since we can’t wear those at my work. Love the outfit and now I want to get the red Swing coat with the hoodie!

Those shoes are to die for! And I finally pulled out my light trench coat here in Florida. Lol. 54 was just a little too cold for me this morning!

Just found this exact coat for $70 at TJ Maxx. They have a ton of cute J. Crew coats right now. I love the coat so far. Very warm, but polished enough for me to wear over a suit to court!

How would you say this compares to the Cocoon coat? Since I know they are also extremely similar!! But looks cute!

I have this coat and am also obsessed. Trying to decide if I should bring it to NYC this week! Highs in the 40s but lows in the upper 20s. Do you think the Lodge would cut it when temps are hovering around the freezing point? (Note, I also plan on bringing my longer puffer for evenings and the coldest day, as I am a Texan and not yet used to the cold this season).
